Linda: North And South

Yes, Drama was the channel I recorded from, flipping adverts get in the way of good stuff! Haven't got the DVD but am hoping to acquire it!

It's only £3.70 on Amazon UK right now - please use my Amazon link on the homepage to earn commission for charity.

Petra: Berlin

Hello Ali, from your page I know that Richard is filming in Berlin at this moment. Do you know where exactly? Is it possible to see him? :-) Thanks Petra

Hi Petra

I saw your comment on my FAQ page too. Sorry no, I don't know the answer to either question.

Linda: North And South

Have just been indulging myself in North And South this afternoon, having recorded it this morning, RA is superb in this and I love the story, I'm just an old romantic at heart!Hope everyone enjoyed it again, or for the first time and are having a lovely day.

It is a shame that the Drama channel (is that where you watched it?) cut some of the scenes out to make room for the adverts - e.g. they omitted the entire scene in episode 4 when Thornton visits Helstone and finds the yellow rose... :(

I expect we all have the DVD though!

Susie: Leading men weekend on Drama Channel

Don't know if anybody is already aware of this but the Drama Channel (freeview 20) are having a leading men weekend to celebrate Valentine's Day. They are showing North & South with Richard in one of his most pivotal roles. They are running the Spooks series right from the beginning, so we should get around to seeing Richard again eventually! Here's details of the trailer for the leading man weekend on Drama: http://drama.uktv.co.uk/video/leading-men-weekend-trailer/ Enjoy!

Thanks Susie!

Nichola Glover: Pilgrimage

Dear Richard, I'm looking forward to seeing Pilgrimage, I hope we don't have to wait too long. Are you still considering a Richard III project, it would be nice to see something that isn't just based on Shakespeare's interpretation? A big thank you for doing the audiobooks, I am currently listening to Hamlet (which I haven't read since my teens) and enjoying the novel version. I thoroughly enjoyed your portrayal of Thorin in the Hobbit films, watching the films wasn't the grown woman but the 10 year old girl who had borrowed the book from a boy in her class who had told her "You won't enjoy it, it's not a girls book". How wrong he was. Keep up the good work. Kind Regards Nichola (a bearded admirer!)

Fotina Hardy: Sylvester needs to be made into a movie

Dear Richard First I have to say I love your body of work so than you for your gift! I recently found out you have completed the audio books for Georgette Heyer (I know I am behind the times!) but having heard a bit of Sylvester I re read the novel recently and wondered, why hasn't anyone made these into movies. Who better to play Sylvester than you. The world needs more joy in films and Georgette Heyer's writing is brilliantly witty. I just wanted to mention this to you in the hope that you would consider doing this. Unfortunately I can't provide any funds to assist this, I am just a fan of both of you, but what a wonderful thing it would be to to introduce a new generation to Heyer and to make some beautiful films. Kind regards Fotina

RAWorldFan site. A sweet crazy idea! Hope if he has a significant other, she won't mind too much!

Sorry I have no idea what this refers to - perhaps I don't really want to know!

Best wishes

stefania: N&S

Hi Ali, I'm a N&S "addicted" and as I believe you are my only hope I would like to ask you if there is any possibility to find (somewhere) all the old messages of the "bbc message board" that were posted during the broadcast of the show in 2004....Mission impossible? Thank you very much for all your wonderful work!

I believe they are 'somewhere' on the C19 message forum. You'd have to become a member and ask a moderator to locate them I'm afraid, but I'm not entirely sure. That would be the only place I can think of that might have stored those messages.

Richard's response is the first message (scroll to the end) on my Messages from RA page.

Hi Assunta

There is no virus in my link. Other people are using that link every day and no-one has reported a problem. I suggest you run a virus checker on your computer and I hope that works. Thanks!
