WHAT ELSE has been keeping Richard busy these last 12 months?
In September 2013, additional shooting took place on the Into the Storm set.
On 22nd September, Richard attended the BAFTA LA Tea Party to celebrate British influence in Hollywood.
Promotion for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug took place in the latter quarter of 2013.
On 4th November, a live Hobbit fan event took place and cast members appeared simultaneously in New York, Los Angeles, London and Wellington. Richard was in New York with Orlando Bloom at AMC Lincoln Square in New York with host Anderson Cooper.
On 1st December, Richard attended Tourism New Zealands' 'The Book of New Zealand' event held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
The Google+ Hangout event took place in Los Angeles on 4th December with Richard, Peter Jackson and Evangeline Lilly.
Richard appeared at Waterstone's book shop in Piccadilly (some pictures here), London on Friday 6th December. A small venue with a small audience that were privileged to hear Richard and Luke Evans discuss their experiences of filming The Hobbit.
We received a Christmas message of thanks from Richard on 19th December 2013 in which Richard coined the phrase 'well-wishers'.
On 27th February, Marlise from The Anglophile Channel on YouTube interviewed Richard. The interview was released in 3 parts with outtakes.
On 30th March 2014, Richard and other cast members of The Hobbit attended the 2014 Empire Awards. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug won Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy film and Richard went on stage a second time to present the Best Female Newcomer award.
The 31st March saw Richard doing several interviews in the UK to promote The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug DVD, including a live interview on ITV's This Morning.
Richard narrated a D-Day documentary called D-Day's Sunken Secrets, which was shown on Channel 5 in the UK on Monday 19th May. Richard also recorded the voiceover for a few adverts for Barclays Bank this year.
On 14th July, Richard travelled north to Salford to record a live interview with BBC Breakfast and then on Andrew Marr's news programme on Sunday 20th July. Both interviews were to promote The Crucible.
In July and continuing this month, promotion for Into the Storm has escalated and the premiere will take place in New York City on Monday 4th August. Richard will attend this premiere with all the cast, the director and the producer.

Richard attended three premieres for The Desolation of Smaug around the world in December 2013:
Happy Birthday Richard - I thought last year was busy, but this year has been CRAZY! You will be on stage on your birthday, but I hope you manage to celebrate with friends and loved ones on or around that day. Thanks for keeping us entertained and we all look forward to the next 12 months including that final foray into Middle-earth.
